Here's the link to the site where we're coordinating things. The show is, sadly, coming to an end and we, the fans, have become determined to reach out to the people on the show to let them know we're grateful for what they've done. We've decided to place a full page ad in the Hollywood Reporter (who actually cut us a deal over the LA Times who gave us a half page for twice as much), thanking the cast and crew of Studio 60 for working so hard and being so terrific basically. The Hollywood Reporter gave the Battlestar Galactica folks a great rate on an ad and it seems like they really love this stuff. Big hugs to THR.
We're also encouraging donations to Tipitina's Foundation which is working to revive the music culture of New Orleans in the wake of Katrina. www.tipitinasfoundation.org is where you can go to check TF out. They have a donation link there just for the Foundation but we've got that set up too and anything over the ad price we've been given is going directly to Tipitina's Foundation.
New Orleans musicians were featured in an episode of Studio 60 called The Christmas Show as a way to promote the Foundation. On the Tipitina's site there's a free download for O Holy Night played on brass instruments and it was in a number at the end of the show. So magical. I really really really hope that people can at least donate to the musicians because it's such an incredible cause however I'd like to encourage folks to contribute to the ad. Tommy Schlamme himself aka Aaron Sorkin's producing partner with the best name ever has approved the ad and we're making sure Warner Bros. is okay with us doing this with their artwork but they seem terrific and we're expecting things to be clear pretty soon and the ad will be posted. Can you imagine? Someone got to talk to Tommy. My voice would've been shaking. You never think these things are ever possible. We the fans are so grateful for the show these wonderful people have put together and feel that supporting this charity and placing this ad are terrific ways to go out. There are 2 more shows to air and the ad will be placed the day of the series finale.
